BKW FMB Energy Ltd. is acquiring five run-of-river hydropower plants from Italian energy utility Sorgenia. Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed. The five facilities have a collective installed capacity of nearly 8 MW and are in the Aosta Valley in northern Italy. Annual production from these five plants is about 30 GWh Switzerland-based BKW already owns and operates eight hydropower plants in Italy in the Lago di Iseo region with a total capacity of 42 MW. The company acquired these plants in 2006.
