If we examine the daily load curve of an individual power system, we first of all note the considerable degree of its nonuniformity, i.e., at night the load is minimal, in the morning and especially in the evening there are several peaks of consumption. Observance of the balance of the load and generating capacity at each instant is one of the main and mandatory conditions of normal operation of a power system. Thus, in the power system under consideration the total installed capacity of generating sources should be no less than the maximum load peak.
