The Waseda University Institute of e-Government on January 18 released the Waseda University 2010 World e-Government Rankings, marking its Sixth Consecutive year of monitoring the development of e-Government worldwide.rnProf. Dr. Toshio Obi, Director of the Institute and Head of the research team noted the increasing importance of e-government in a scenario characterized by the Global financial crisis, as well as concerns on environmental issues. Professor Obi added that ICT can be a powerful tool to address such issues and in doing so, consolidate an inclusive Information Society. Governments are key actors in this process and the development of e-Government in recent years shows that work is being done around the world in building towards a citizen-oriented state.
