摘要

Strategic Lateral Offset Procedures (SLOP) have been applied in an oceanic flight. SLOP allows pilots to select to fly not only on a defined route but also either 1 or 2 nautical miles right of the center line. Since recent aircraft are able to fly very accurately on a defined route, it is expected that the use of the SLOP can decrease the risk of collision with other aircraft assigned to the same route. However, it cannot contribute safety unless its use is distributed randomly. Currently, the use of SLOP is in the hands of pilots, and they do not have to report it to air traffic centers, so it is difficult to ascertain the current use of the SLOP. This paper proposes a method to identify the ratio of aircraft using SLOP based on stochastic analysis.
