Irecently heard an interview with Malcolm Gladwell (of The Tipping Point and Outliers fame) where he harped on his now-famous: "If you look at any cognitively complex discipline, in order to be good you must practice at least 10,000 hours." He connects this to genius-level performance, whether it was Wayne Gretzky living hockey from before the age of three, to the nascent Beatles playing eight-hour gigs in a Hamburg strip club.
