The author of "Lightning Flash in IMC" (April 2009 IFR) mentions in passing a lightning strike on a Cessna 210 near Glendale, Ariz., in 2005, noting that despite the separation of the left wingtip, "the aircraft landed safely and without injuries to the four occupants."rnThe brief mention in the article does little justice to the drama of the incident, and the extraordinary airmanship exercised by the pilot, which I learned directly from the pilot shortly after it happened.
