Icoaxed the King Air E-90 out to the centerline on runway 4 at Ama-rillo, Texas, scanned the takeoff checklist one last time, brought the power levers forward to 1250 pounds of torque and slowly released the brakes. The turbines went into a smooth, deep whine and within seconds the E-90 roared down the runway. At 95 knots indicated I rotated, and the Beech surged off the pavement into the clear blue sky. I was getting to like this airplane. At 700 feet AGL an engine suddenly died. I frantically pushed the rudder pedals with my feet, trying to identify which side was weak and which was strong. It was hard to tell with the chaos in my head and around the airfoils. After a few long seconds I reached for the prop controls to initiate a feather.
