The paramount need to focus on the human element to induct a commitment to the safety culture and also to ensure that in the new globalised world the courage, determination and sacrifices of the seafarers are remembered and not ignored were the main points highlighted at a reception to celebrate the World Maritime Day 2001 organized by the Indian NationalrnShipowners' Association (INSA) in co-operation with the Directorate General of Shipping and the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee in Mumbai on 26-9-2001.
