Have you ever watched YouTube videos in which experts critique movie scenes touching on that expert's subject area? WIRED and BuzzFeed have a number of these videos. For instance: 1. "A Shark Expert Reviews Shark Movies" (youtube.com/ watch?v=irl8Gg314c0) 2. "Professional Boxers Review Boxing Movies" (youtube.com/ watch?v=8oFhrmr8zhU) 3. "Surgical Resident Breaks Down 49 Medical Scenes From Film & TV" (youtube.com/watch?v= vG0L7ZvuGMc) Libraries and librarians pop up in a lot of movies. More than 550 of them are listed in "Librarians in the Movies: An Annotated Filmography" by Martin Raish (emp.byui.edu/raishm/films/intro duction.html). How accurate are these depictions? What would a library expert say about them? After 19 years in public libraries, college libraries, and law/ government libraries, I suppose I'm an expert. Here, then, are my thoughts on library scenes in three well-known films.
