For years, your Field Correspondent has had a reproduction of a photo in his office, just as a reminder. It has traveled to several offices, including one where it blocked out a lovely view of two air conditioning units. It's from baseball's Opening Day in 1946. Hundreds of fans, mostly men in overcoats and fedoras, mill around outside Chicago's Wrigley Field, where the marquee says that the game starts at 1:30 and brags that the park is home to the National League champions.
