The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) and Europeana launched RightsStatements.org, which offers rights statements that can be used to explain the copyright statuses of "cultural objects." DPLA and Europeana partners that own the digital works these organizations aggregate need to be able to communicate to potential users what they are allowed to do with them, and RightsStatements.org statements can help standardize the data surrounding copyrighted works.
