The Mewar Ramayana, a 17th-century version of the ancient Hindu epic that is considered to be among the most beautifully illustrated manuscripts in the world, is now available online courtesy of the British Library and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS). The text of the Mewar Ramayana was written by Mahatma Hirananda, a Jain scribe, and the illustrations were created by various artists after the piece was commissioned by Rana Jagat Singh I of Mewar in 1649.
