In its 200-plus-year existence, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has pioneered efforts in the publishing industry before, but never like this: Wiley is the first book publisher to leverage legal action against otherwise would-be customers who have illegally uploaded and downloaded books from Wiley's For Dummies series through BitTorrent, Inc. websites. "BitTorrent has been around for a number of years now ... and Wiley thought that it was time for them to get involved in this area as well," says Wiley's attorney William Dunnegan, of Dunnegan, LLC.
