I faced my first serious (well, semiseri-ous) research project in my last year of high school. I had to journey to one of the largest public libraries in the country. Actually, its collection didn't look that large; there was more space for tables and chairs than for books. Five years later, I learned that the bulk of the collection was ensconced inside the walls. But since the discovery was made while I was attending library school, the library impressed me anyway.
