The librarian/cyclists who embarked on the 10-day trek from Copenhagen to Berlin as part of the Cycling for Libraries "unconference" were finishing their final pedal pushing in early June, arriving in Berlin just in time to attend the 100th Deutscher Bibliothekartag (German Library Conference). The team of 100 who rode together in daily stages of about 70 km (43.5 miles) each not only shared their love of the outdoors in this grass-roots networking event but also tackled a special library-related theme each day and brainstormed for more of a global understanding of the issues. Themes included mobile apps for libraries, the strengths of public libraries, multiculturalism, librarianship in the changing library space, green libraries, and teaching students and patrons to be lifelong learners.
