By now, MySpace has taken over most of the Internet. Teenagers, bands, filmmakers, and politicians have all created profiles on the social networking giant, gathering huge media attention and a purchase by Google. But even if you can't tell at first glance, MySpace is not the only social networking option available.rnFacebook (www.facebook.com) is My-Space's closest rival, and it offers many of the same services. The site started out exclusively for college students, but in the past few months it has opened its doorsrnto everyone. Users profiles can be updated with photos, videos, current status information, and much more thanks to Facebook's new applications, which were created by Facebook and third-party designers. These applications can be added to a user's profile and shifted around to meet his or her aesthetic fancy. That is to say nothing of the Friends feature of Facebook, which is the main reason these sites are used at all. Friends can be added based on "networks," which can include schools, jobs, or regions where users live. Friends can post comments on each other's Walls,rntag each other in pictures and videos, and send each other messages and bulletins, among other things.
