This article is a summary from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation's Asia Pacific Low Cost Airline Outlook 2004. The full report can be purchased for US$395 on the Centre's website: www.centreforaviation.com. In its latest report on Low Cost Airlines (LCA) in the Asia Pacific region, the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation says resistance in the region to aviation liberalisation is being broken down by economic and commercial imperatives. Consequently, the prospects for regional take-up of the LCA identified in the 2002 report on the phenomenon by the Centre, were well on the way to being fulfilled in 2003. This is reflected in a starburst of investment initiatives in existing, new and planned airlines as 2004 commences.
