In the presence of some 2,000 guests ― including Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who had expressed a wish to attend ― Embraer president Mauricio Botelho stressed that the roll-out of the new aircraft, the largest ever constructed in Latin America, marks the entry of Embraer on the world air transport aircraft market, and not just the regional sector. The aircraft responds to a top-of-me-line requirement expressed by a number of airlines for capacity in the 70-110-seat market. Also present at the official Embraer 190 roll-out ceremony, the owner of JetBlue, David Neelleman, explained that it was not because he was born in Brazil and speaks Portuguese that he chose to place a firm order for 100 examples of this aircraft.
