For fervent believers in the future of transatlantic cooperation in defence, it must be rather disheartening — though hardly surprising — to hear that a US Senator has once again let rip at European industry, launching accusations about all kinds of devious skullduggery aimed at putting hard-working Americans out of a job. The latest outburst came from Washington State Senator Patty Murray who took the floor in the Senate in early May to explain to her colleagues "the underhanded things that Airbus is doing to dismantle our aerospace industry ... trying to steal the [USAF] tanker contract through its phony claims."
