摘要

This research note demonstrates the importance of a high coverage pertussis vaccination program. We concluded that the system of pertussis vaccination in the Czech Republic prevented a severe epidemic of pertussis in the Czech Republic. We provide preliminary estimates of the number of cases averted. As part of the ongoing larger study, we also compared age-selective pertussis vaccination coverage with an all age categories vaccination approach. We found that an all-inclusive vaccination program could have prevented over 850 cases of pertussis in the Czech Republic in 2013 and this effect could have lasted for the five years at a minimum.
