Oman has joined the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain and the UK as the most recent in a long line of Typhoon customers and the list is set to grow, according to Alan Garwood, Group Business Development Director for BAE Systems, one of four European partner industries involved in developing the new multirole fighter. "In 2012, BAE Systems welcomed the decision by the Sultanate of Oman to purchase 12 Typhoon and eight Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft", he said at LIMA '13. According to him, there were a number of opportunities to grow the Typhoon customer base over the next few years. "We need to ensure that along with a world-leading combat aircraft, our customers are offered the best possible industrial partnership packages that deliver the best possible value from a technology, skills and economic perspective", Garwood said.
