摘要

Defence and aerospace offsets in India is an important emerging area which will be figuring in business talks with international OEMs targeting this market in years to come. With the GOI having moved closer to realistic, practical and implementable approach to offsets through formal amendments in DPP, the country provides unique and enormous opportunity to one and all. Foreign OEMs not only can meet the contractual obligations but can usefully employ the skilled and economic labour advantages, for targeting foreign markets as well, through formalising supply chain arrangements. While an IOP may qualify to be eligible for executing offsets through a laid down criteria, there is need for initial hand holding by prime OEMs to ensure alignment of processes/ systems making way for smoother work flows. The need of the hour is to get into strategic alliances with the appropriate local partners for long term mutual benefits.
