The first Indian cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma who flew on-board a Russian spaceship in 1984 has said that in the context of the rapidly shrinking space budgets of developed nations, collaboration between various space faring nations would be of great help in accomplishing lunar missions and better space exploration. "Space activity is very interestingly poised. It is going to move up a level despite some conflicting reasons. Space exploration budgets of developed nations are shrinking while those of developing nations continue to grow," observed Sharma. Sharma also suggested that the Bengaluru based Institute of Aviation Medicine (IMA) which forms a part of the Indian Air Force (IAF) should take up a project to set up Aerospace Psychology Isolation Laboratory.
