DuPont, maker of the world's best-known spandex, Lycra, is seeking to stretch its domination of the elastane fiber sector by entering the generic market through a series of joint ventures, starting in Asia. "We thought we could provide an interesting offering to the trade, a good quality spandex at a low service level and low total cost," said Steve McCracken, Lycra president and group vice president of DuPont.
