Virunga Power, a developer and operator of distributed renewable power generation projects in sub-Saharan Africa, announced on 18 December that it had raised US$ 5 million for the development of a portfolio of small run-of-river hydroelectric and rural community electrification projects in the East and Southern Africa regions in the first closing of its Series A corporate financing round.

The collaborations analysed span academia, civil society and government, from the grassroots to the national and global levels.
