The Russian power engineering group Rakurs Engineering is to study the feasibility of building a cascade of four hydropower plants with a total design capacity of 70 MW on the lower reaches of the river Vrbas in Rep-ublika Srpska. A cooperation agreement to this effect was signed on 14 September between Republika Srp-ska's Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Petar Dokic and the General Manager of the St Petersburg-based company Leonid Chernigov in the presence of St Petersburg's Governor, Georgy Poltavchenko and the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik. Under the agreement, Rakurs Engineering will carry out a feasibility study of the Trn, Laktasi, Kosjerevo and Razboj projects, and assuming the projects are economically and technically feasible, will assist the state power utility ERS to secure an investor for the estimated €500 million project. According to preliminary studies, the Trn station will have an installed capacity of 24 MW, with an average annual output of 139.9 GWh, while the Laktasi plant would have an installed capacity of 16.18 MW, with an average annual production of 95.2 GWh. The planned installed capacity of the Kosjerevo hydro plant would be 13.3 MW, with an average annual output of 102 GWh, and Razboj's installed capacity would be 16.5 MW, with an average annual production of 102 GWh.
