The Inter-American Development Bank has approved a technical cooperation loan of US$ 249 000 to Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE), the state power company of Honduras, to conduct studies to prepare a potential loan to modernize the 300 MW Francisco Morazan hydropower plant. The technical assistance is designed to support the ENEE in the preparation and supervision of the modernization of the plant, and studies to determine the potential for an increase in the capacity of the country's largest hydropower plant. The objective of the project is to extend the life of the plant, improve its reliability and operational efficiency, and integrate it into the National Dispatch System, allowing in turn for the integration into the national grid of further renewable energy.
