The Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) invites proposals by 15 June from consulting firms registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for the services of detailed engineering design, preparation of tender documents and PC-Ⅰ of the Hingol dam project. The proposed 52 m-high earth and rockfill dam, to be constructed in the Lasbela district in Balochistan province, about 250 km northwest of Karachi, is designed to store flood waters of the Hingol river for irrigated agricultural development, power generation and water supply for drinking and other domestic uses. The dam is designed to impound a reservoir with gross storage capacity of 1.5 × 10~9 m~3 and live storage of about 0.8 × 10~9 m~3 to be made available for developing irrigated agriculture of a command area totalling 263 km~2.
