摘要

In 1957 the Government of Canada moved the Kashechewan First Nation to a location at the mouth of the Albany river that was prone to flooding. Since that time, the community has been subjected to hardships, evacuations and unquantified risks. The use of a formal and structured risk assessment process has allowed an understanding of the risks faced by the community and the measures that can be used to reduce, but not eliminate, these risks. Based on this work it was concluded that: 1. The ring dyke, in its present condition, under the current state of dam safety management being performed, presents risks to the Kashechewan community that are beyond the CDA threshold for tolerability.
