摘要

The 290 MW Nam Ngiep 1 hydro scheme in Laos officially moved into the construction phase recently. The scheme, on the Nam Ngiep river in Xaysomboun and Bolikhamxay provinces, is likely to take four years to build. The project is being implemented by the Nam Ngiep Power Company Ltd, which is jointly owned by Kansai Electric Power of Japan, EGAT of Thailand, and the Lao Holding State Enterprise (LHSE). The project is largely being funded by the Asian Development Bank, with contributions also from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, and other Japanese and Thai banks.
