The Government of Argentina has issued a tender for the development of the 637 MW Chihuido I storage hydropower project in the western province of Neuquen. Interested bidders have until 23 April to apply for the project, according to a statement issued on 20 December by the Ministry of Federal Planning and Public Investment (Minplan). The tender was launched following the signing of an agreement by the Minister of Federal Planning, Julio De Vido, and the Governor of Neuquen, Jorge Sapag. Argentina would seem to be hoping to attract bids and financing from Brazil, China and Russia, as the Ministry statement said that Minister De Vido had undertaken a tour in the three countries to promote the project and other strategic infrastructure projects.
