摘要

The San Diego County Water Authority held a ceremony in July to inaugurate the heightened San Vicente dam in California, USA. The raising of the dam height by 36 m (117 ft) to 103 m (337 ft), more than doubling the storage capacity of the reservoir, represents the largest dam heightening in the USA and the highest RCC dam heightening in the world. The US$ 416 million project was completed in June 2014, increasing the water storage capacity of the reservoir by 152 000 acre-ft (187 × 10~6m~3) to 242 000 acre-ft (297 × 10~6m~3), and providing the region with a critical reserve to cope with future water shortages.
