BC Hydro also recently achieved two milestones for a larger, forthcoming construction project, the 1.1 GW Site C project, where construction is to begin in 2015. The utility has issued a Request for Qualifications (RfQ) for the main civil works for Site C, and was told by the Joint Review Panel that the scheme is the least expensive solu- tion to help meet regional energy needs. Site C, to be built on the Peace river in the northeast of British Columbia, would generate 5.1 TWh/year from 2023.
