Enso Hydro of Austria has invited bids by 30 September for the civil works and design, supply, installation and commissioning of hydro-mechanical and electromechanical equipment for a three-plant cascade it is developing on the river Mat in northern Albania. The project, with a total installed capacity of around 38 MW, and expected annual production of 130 GWh, is to be developed under a 35 year BOT concession, and is scheduled to be commissioned between 2016 and early 2017. The development will comprise two main run-of-river plants: the upstream Mati 1 station with an installed capacity of 17.47 MW (gross head of 102 m and design flow of 22 m~3/s) and Mati 2 with a capacity of 19.82 MW (gross head of 81.5 m and design flow of 32 m~3/s). A micro hydro station, referred to as Mati 1i, with a capacity of 0.83 MW (gross head of 70.3 m and design flow of 1.5 m~3/s), is to be built at an irriga- tion channel near to the Mati 1 plant.
