RusHydro, Russia's state hydropow-er producer, announced on 22 October that it had agreed to study potential cooperation with the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) on construction of hydroelectric storage schemes on the tributaries of the Amur to reduce the risk of further heavy flooding in the Far East of Russia and northeastern China as experienced in 2013 (see also p41). The parties agreed to discuss the organizational form of cooperation and its financing principles, as well as to develop proposals on electricity sales for the new capacity, according to a RusHydro' press statement.
