摘要

Research to study the stress-strain state of high dams by monitoring in-situ observations of rock abutment displacements and geophysical explorations is described. These studies confirmed that the effect of joint water is of significant importance and that the deformation processes of rock foundations is especially sensitive to changes in water percolation through the fissured rock at times of reservoir impounding and drawdown. Implications for dam failure are discussed.
