Kwagis Power Ltd Partnership, a joint venture between Brookfield Renewable Power and Namgis First Nation, has been awarded an environmental assessment certificate for the proposed Kokish river hydroelectric project in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The province's Ministry of Environment announced on 20 December that it had granted environmental approval for the 45 MW project, which is to be built on the Kokish river, 15 km east of Port McNeill on Vancouver Island, at an estimated cost of C$ 200 million. Kwagis Power has an offtake agreement with BC Hydro beginning in April 2014.
