Cambodia inaugurated in December its largest hydropower plant to date. A ceremony was held on 7 December to mark the official entry into service of the 193.2 MW Kamchay project, near the town of Kampot in the country's southeastern corner near Vietnam. Prime Minister Hun Sen said the inauguration of the project was a "historic event" in the development of the nation, and marked an important step in the country's effort to move away from oil-fuelled power generation.
