The 100 MW Glendoe hydro plant, in Scotland, UK, was restarted in late August by owner and operator Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), following almost three years of repairs and strengthening to its power tunnel system. A tunnel collapse at a fault zone near the top of the power conduit led to interruption to generation in August 2009, just months after operations began. Dewatering and investigations found the collapse zone to be far more extensive than expected, but the electromechanical equipment was undamaged.
