摘要

Remedial work has recently been carried out at the A$ 55 million Wellington dam to enhance its structural stability under flood loading. The dam is located on the Collie river southwest of Perth in Western Australia. It is classified as an extreme hazard structure according to the ANCOLD Guidelines, because of the population of approximately 30 000 living in the flood plain downstream. The existing structure is a 35 m-high concrete gravity dam, t originally constructed in 1933 and heightened in the 1950s to its current height. The 360 m-long dam crest consists of a 220 m-long ogee spillway crest flanked by a broader non-overflow section. The dam impounds 185 GL, (the second largest storage in Western Australia), which is primarily used to supply the Collie irrigation district on the coastal plain.
