A major concrete faced rockfill dam is planned for construction in Peru to produce hydropower for bothrnthe Peruvian and Brazilian grid systems. First stage feasibility studies are now being reviewed and revised.rnThe main features of the scheme are described here.rnThe Inambari hydro plant, currently under study, is to be constructed on the river of the same name in Peru. It will generate power to supply the Brazilian interconnected system, and will also supply the Peruvian market as required.rnIts planned location is within the Departments of Puno, Cuzco and Madre de Dios, in the Province of Quispicanchi, Peru. The site is located at an elevation of about 330 m, between the Inambari bridge and the confluence of the Inambari and Araza rivers, in the Peruvian Amazon. The dam axis coordinates are 13°10'59" south latitude and 70°23'02" west longitude. . Fig. 1 shows the location of the project, and the photos below and above right show various design details of the site.
