Alstom Hydro is to rehabilitate two hydro plants in Africa under contracts worth more than €50 million. Alstom Hydro, in joint venture with Bouygues, announced on 19 March that it is to carry out a complete overhaul of the 260 MW N'seke hydro plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the public utility Societe Nationale d'Electricitern(SNEL), and the rehabilitation of the main equipment of the 260 MW Cambambe plant in Angola for the State utility Empresa National de Electricidade (ENE). The two plants were built in the 1950s, and have been operating at reduced capacity.rnUnder the contract with SNEL, Alstom Hydro will restore the N'seke plant, on the Lualaba river in the DRC, to its original operating conditions and capacity, as well as extend its operating life by around 15 years.
