摘要

Trinidad & Tobago has an area of 5128 km~2, and a population of about 1.3 million (2006). The national water authority is the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) which, since 1996, has been managed by a private operator (Severn Trent/Trinidad & Tobago Water Services). The Government plans to privatize water and sanitation services under a long-term arrangement and to separate the regulatory function of water resources management from the operational arm of the utility. There are four large dams (two higher than 15 m), operated by WASA and used for water storage. The total storage of all dams is 0.05 km~3. No further dams or hydro projects are planned. The per capita domestic water consumption is estimated to be 590 litres/day.
