摘要

The major underground works for the Kopswerk Ⅱ pumped-storage plant, which were all completed on schedule, represented a complex element of the project. Various tunnelling, excavation and reinforcement methods were used. Kopswerk Ⅱ has been in operation since September 2008, working in parallel with the existing Kopswerk I plant. Located in the Montafon valley, the water source for this plant is from the Silvretta mountain range. From the upper basin of the pow-erplant, 1800 m above sea level at lake Kops, the water flows through a 5.5 km-long pressure tunnel. The flow passes through the surge chamber to a 1.14 km-long inclined pressure shaft, which supplies the powerhouse 710 m below. This powerhouse is connected to the lower Rifa basin by a tailrace tunnel. The station is equipped with three 150 MW reversible units. Construction of the major underground structures began in September 2004.
