The World Water Council has chosen Mexico as the venue for the 4th World Water Forum, which is a most important international water event to signal the importance of water for development and social well-being. This Forum will differ from the previous one in Kyoto, as it will be a much more focused event. Five main themes have being selected, and all of them have to do with development. Important water uses will be duly discussed, including: water supply and sanitation, irrigation and hydropower. Disaster mitigation in relation to floods and droughts are among the main themes of the Forum.
