摘要

An update on progress at the site of one of the world's major concrete faced rockfill dam projects is presented here. Design and construction features of the 188 m-high El Cajon CFRD are described, together with innovative construction measures and equipment developed to cope with the demand for rapid construction imposed by the EPC contract. The 750 MW El Cajon dam and hydroelectric plant is located on the Santiago river in western Mexico, in the State of Nayarit. The site is about 60 km upstream of the existing 187 m-high Aguamilpa CFRD (Fig. 1). In the family of very high dams, the 188 m-high El Cajon CFRD is the second concrete faced rockfill dam in Mexico and when completed in 2006 will be even higher than its Mexican predecessor Aguamilpa, currently the highest CFRD in operation in the world. The project is owned by Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE). Construction is being carried out under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by Constructora Internacional de Infraestructura S. A. (CIISA), a multinational consortium under the leadership of Ingenieros Civiles Asociados (ICA ) of Mexico.
