摘要

Reliability and stability of operation are of particular concern in the case of hydraulic turbines operating with considerable head and load variations. In these modes of operation, recirculating motion of-fluid in the runner in the form of concentrated vortices occurs. This paper analyses the physical reasons.for this occurrence and its effect on dynamic stresses and cavitation on the runner blades. Such information should be useful to purchasers of hydro turbines, who often include, requirements in tender documentation relating to blade-to-blade vortex; however, these requirements often do not correspond to the physical nature of the phenomenon.
