摘要

This note briefly explores two well known mechanics models, elementary beams and trusses, with the aim of illustrating widely acknowledged intuitions about their behavior. It will be explicitly shown how a discrete distribution of forces can be developed into a uniform load. Similarly, a simple truss will be examined to explicitly demonstrate its behavior as an archetypal beam. Thus, two instances of mechanics intuition that are well known, but for which actual demonstrations do not appear in the literature, are confirmed.
