Making the shift to intelligence-led policing requires organizational and cultural changes that some policing will resist. Both police executives and analysts will have to demonstrate leadership, ownership and understanding of the tenets of intelligence-led policing to succeed (p. 237). Ratcliffe's experiences and knowledge provide rich insights into intelligence-led policing and, most tellingly, a clear picture. This book is the first exposition of the intelligence-led policing philosophy and makes a substantial contribution to modern policing literature. It is a book that will transcend theory-practice divides and well-thumbed copies will be found on the shelves of many a university library and in practitioners' offices and working libraries for years to come.
