This special issue presents significantly expanded articles based on selected contributions from the International Symposium on Experimental Robotics (ISER 2018), held during November 5-8, 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This is the 16th symposium of the ISER, a series of biennial international symposia. Sponsored by the International Foundation of Robotics Research (IFRR), the goal of ISER symposia is providing a single-track forum for research in robotics that focuses on the novelty of theoretical contributions validated by experimental results.
